The Watson Twins-Fire Songs

Published by saralime at 6:33 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Fire Songs

Fire Songs is the first album without Jenny Lewis by sisters The Watson Twins, which means its the first time their singer/songwriter skills have been put on display. Sister Leigh’s voice has a very folky sound to it (reminiscent of Natalie Merchant), the harmonization skills are great and their song writing skills are strong. All and all this album is a great first solo outing for the duo. Favorite Song: tie between “Map to Where You Are” and “Just Like Heaven.” “Map to Where You Are” has a Spanish feel to it, complete with castanets, Spanish guitar and trumpet, while “Just Like Heaven” is a great cover of the Cure’s hit. Least favorite song: Dig a Little Deeper. This song doesn’t really stand out of the alt-country pack.
